Abstract

A research using resistivity method had been done in the Region Bentas, Siluq Ngurai, Kutai Barat Regency, Province of East Borneo, from 1th – 11th of February 2010. Primary tools used in data collecting are Resistivitymeter Syscal and other supporting tools. The configuration used is dipole-dipole with 20 m of electrode space, 12 of measurement n, 500 m of track length and 9 tracks of data collecting. This research is meant to collect data which will be used to identify presence of coal on under based surface the resistivity value Coal is formed by piling, decomposing, and compacting process of plant materials (peat forming) and geological process (high pressure and temperature rising) that happen for millions of years. Within research area, the detected distribution of coal has a resistivity value up to 170
