Abstract

This research entitled “Creative Content Analysis of Print Media Advertisement Gold Medal Award Winner from the Forum http://www.adsoftheworld.com by the Period of time October 2008 to March 2011”. The present writer in this research has selected some print media advertisement from the site. Print media advertisement was chosen since it was one of the most popular advertisement medium and can be adapted easily by the creative ads-designer. The print media which become the object of the research was also inspired site visitors. Thes research aimed to obtain explanation of creative messages created by the gold medal winner print media creative advertisement monthly advertisement competition on http://www.adsoftheworld.com advertising forum site. Methodologies used by the present writer to reveal the creative message was the content analysis—that is a technique to expose contents stated as objective, systematic and quantitative. The research population was thirty works of print media in the monthly gold medal award-winning in the site http://www.adsoftheworld.com from the category of print media advertisement or print advertisement, by the time October 2008 to March 2011. There are categories used in the research such as: the type of advertising, visual synchronization, visual presentation techniques, message content, message appeal, style in delivering advertising messages, visual effects of the advertisement. Result of the research indicated that the dominating advertisements are come from the commercial advertisement type which are aimed to increase sales and brand awareness in the society. Those advertisement contain several elements of execution style and advertising appeal which is the combination of several elements. This research also found a new categorization in determining whether or not an advertisement contain creative messages. This new categorization called as message coverage categorization which should have covered both local and international advertisement. Therefore, the winning advertisements in the website http://adsoftheworld.com are dominated by advertisement with universal message coverage. In short, those winning advertisements contained several message which can be easily understood by the target audience. As a conclusion, this research aimed to facilitate the creative people in understanding elements needed in making creative advertisement which also contained messages which eventually attained the objective of the advertisement.
