Abstract

Purpose of this study was to examine the perceived importance and the willingness of students to both trust an academic advisor and to commit to working with the academic advisor. This study examined one aspect of advisor communication style – listening, and its relationship to both trust and the added dimension of commitment on the part of student. Students of Economics in a university became the samples of the study. Result of regression analysis supported all of hypothesis. Advisor’s listening ability significantly effected student’s trust. Student’ trust significantly effected both satisfaction and commitment. Keywords: academic advisor, commitment, listening ability, satisfaction, trust.
