Sekaten is a religious ceremony, where the gamelan sounded yard of the mosque in order to enter the mosque to read the two sentences creed. Sekaten closely related to the process of Islamization in Java. This study uses semiotic analysis, is the study of the nature of the existence of an existing sign on the lives of people who become part of social life. The approach taken in this research using direct observation or observation, which the researchers did not take part in the event or phenomenon to be observed. Researchers only focus on the semiotic analysis, in which researchers have linked the symbols, meanings, and messages. Data collection techniques used were interviews, observation, documentation. The study explains that sekaten Ceremony which is held annually in order to welcome the birthday of Prophet Muhammad in which there is a procession or ritual before stepping on the peak of the Garebeg Maulud. The procession has significance that contain many messages to be understood by the palace and the surrounding communities. Kraton and Yogyakarta people still trying to preserve the culture of this nation that is not extinct, and therefore of the government also seeks to require the implementation of sekaten each community once a year and was welcomed with joy.Sekaten developments which later evolved into a celebration of the Night Market Sekaten (PMPs) from time to time, on the one hand are needed to remain rooted in the function as a rallying-proselytizing giusnya oral bil. But on the other hand, Sekaten be able to adapt to the development of Javanese culture. It must be admitted that Sekaten has become an icon of the city.
