    Abstract

    Energy sources is one thing that is important in all areas of human life. The phenomenon of energy requirements associated with the price level of energy prices, especially oil, which has increased due to fossil energy sources as a source of primary energy reserves are running low. Therefore, the need to immediately seek alternative fuels as a substitute for fuel wood and oil with specifications approaching firewood and petroleum both in terms of combustion characteristics and mechanical characteristics. Potential energy and mineral natural resources contained in the bowels of the earth, especially non-metals as an alternative fuel is a very large coal deposit in Indonesia. This study aims to determine the potential of coal production in Indonesia as an alternative fuel. Based on these results, the natural resources of energy and minerals, especially coal in Indonesia has the potential to produce abundant enough to meet energy needs in Indonesia. Potential and the realization of Indonesia coal production of 109,041.037 tons per year or an average increase of 3.8 percent. Key words: Potential, coal, energy, mineral
