    Abstract

    Government food policies of the 80s are very focused on the willingness of rice as the national food commodities. Because of this image from the farmers that the rice plant is the only crop that is profitable and prospective. In addition, the consumer is created image of superiority of rice as the only commodity that is able to meet the needs of the Indonesian community in aspects of nutrition, supply and price stability. Government from 1974 until now has been rolling the various policy-related diversification, but these efforts megalami some constraints such as the level of knowledge and lower middle-class society that is still low, the difficulty of changing the culture of eating and the emergence of shame non-rice eating local food, rice has been positioned as a symbol of prosperity and commodity food politics, the lack of availability of non-rice food as a result of food production and distribution process more focused on rice and not the maximum role of various stakeholders outside government to develop alternative food. Therefore, to achieve food security, an effort that can be done is to re-actualization of food diversification towards production and food consumption varied, nutritionally balanced and secure, and most important is based on local resources and local wisdom. Diversification of food will have a value greater benefit if able to explore, develop and optimize the utilization of local food sources that exist to uphold the right to food as a basic human right (entitlement) and local wisdom. Renewal of the diversification of food can be done with the diversification of consumption and production simultaneously. In other words, diversification of food not only as an effort to reduce dependence on rice, but also efforts to improve nutrition to the Pola Pangan Harapan (PPH) to get people qualified and competitive.
