Most of top soil layer, in Riau province is peat. Construction on peat soil has a lot of problems. Major problem of peat soil are low bearing capacity, decomposition, and large settlement. Improvement methods of peat soil are expensive. Selection of reinforcement method to improve bearing capacity with low cost is needed. This research aims to study a model of peat soil improvement using combination of bamboo and Geotextile. Container model contain peat soil beneath of shallow foundation with dimension (BxB) 15x15 cm2. Bamboo was arranged parallel with specific distance. Furthermore arranging of bamboo placed under the Geotextile. Reinforcement of bamboo and geotextile was made in variation. Every variation, dimension of bamboo and geotextiles is the same. The results showed that increasing the carrying capacity of a combination of bamboo and the geotextile was 242.11%, 253.38% and 290.98% respectively for the 2B, 3B, and 4B. Furthermore, for nearest distance between foundation and combination of bamboo and geotextile (D = 0.25 B), for dimension of 4B for combination of bamboo and geotextile will increase the bearing capacity up to 336.09%. Bearing capacity of the soil with combination of bamboo and geotextile are increasing linear with increased of length and decreasing with increased distance from the foundation.
