Abstract

The paper dealt with the implementation process of material requirement planning (MRP) within small and medium-sized firms. While the literature showed almost general agreement on the critical factors of MRP implementation, few empirical studies existed to support the proposed elements. The purpose of this study was to identify the element of MRP implementation that are required to ensure successful implementation. A number of elements of implementation were identified and subsequently grouped into a hierarchical structure consisting of five broader elements. The critical factors of MRP implementation consisted of ten elements. Regression analysis showed that MRP implementation significantly effected MRP success factors.
