    Abstract

Permeability in geothermal field generally identified as cracks. Microearthquake methods only identify active cracks but cannot identify the microcracks characteristic. Shear Wave Splitting (SWS) method can determine direction of microcracks based on S wave polarity which is the fast S wave result parameter polarization angle φ as direction of microcracks and time delay δt as the function of anisotropy layer or size of microcracks. This research is aimed to observe the Shear Wave Splitting phenomena at geothermal field in Rajabasa. This research uses microearthquake event at June 9th 2011 that recorded by four stations X013, X014, X017 and X018. From the event is done the analysis of its particle motion to determine the arrival time of P and S wave by using PITSA, Geopsy and SeisGram2K software. The analysis of P and S wave’s particle motion results the azimuth of epicenter and incident angle to determine the depth of hypocenter. The analysis of S wave shows the presence of the Shear Wave Splitting phenomena in each station. If the Shear Wave Splitting phenomena appear in particle motion plot diagram then the further analysis of measuring φ and δt can be done by rotate the seismogram. The particle motion of P and S wave results the epicenter at coordinate 105o63 Longitude dan 5o82 Latitude with the depth of hypocenter about 0,1 km until 4,4 km. The Shear Wave Splitting phenomena shows the microcracks direction and time delay at the station X013 = N 055o E and time delay 100 ms, sta X017 = N 100o E with time delay 105 ms and sta X018 = N 148oE with time delay 65 ms . The microcracks is structure that occurred after stike-slip faults as main structure and showed by the direction that compatible one each other between the direction of microcracks and the direction of main structure. Keywords : Shear Wave Splitting, microcracks, particle motio
