    Abstract

    Combination of flotation-filtration is a promising method to separate heavy metals and inorganic compounds in wastewater. This method has been recently used in many industrial processes, especially in wastewater treatment processes. However, the study of alternative bonding agent to improve the effectiveness of the method is still needed. Hence, this research used Lampung natural zeolite as bonding agent, to eliminate heavy metals (Fe, Cu, and Ni) in synthetic wastewater containing heavy metals and inorganic (NH3) compounds. Zeolite are selective to remove waste compounds, based on their sizes and polarities. This research consists of zeolite preparation and its performance test as bonding agent in flotationfiltration process. There are 3 variations made in flotation-filtration process: variation of synthetic waste solution type (metals waste and metals - ammonia mixture), variation of pH, and variation of ammonia concentration in metals - ammonia mixture waste. The results shows that, the optimum pH in processing heavy metals waste and metals - ammonia mixture waste are 8 and 9 respectively. The concentration of ammonia which gives significant removal percentage of heavy metals in processing metals - ammonia mixture waste is 40 mg/L.
