    Abstract

The research was conducted to determine the effect of Curcuma domestica extract to the mortality of Bruchus cinensis and Sitophilus oryzae and to find the botanical pesticide as pest control agent. The experiment was carried out at Plant Protection Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Pembangunan Nasional "Veteran", Yogyakarta. The first expeiment was designed to determine the effect of C. domestica extract on B. chinensis. The second experiment was performed to get an understanding of S. oryzae respond to C. domestica extract. Both were conducted on completely Randomized Designed, with four extract concentrations and five replications. The extract of C. domestica could made 20-25% mortality to B.chinensis population on 25% concentration by both oral and contact application. The mortality got higher by the increased of extract concentration. The extract of C.domestica had different effect on S. oryzae. Extract only suppressed it's feeding ability. C.domestica extract had antifeedant effect to S. oryzae. LC 50 of C. domestica extract on B. chinensis was lower than on S. oryzae. It indicated that the extract was more toxic to B. chinensis than to S. oryzae. Advance research is nedded in order to get the apropriate concentration and technigue of C. domestica exttract applicatton
