Abstract
Research for Warukin Formation has been done. The target of this research is characteristics of coal based on data from well logs and proximate to the area "X ", Tabalong District, South Kalimantan Province. Well log data used to determine the characteristics of the coal based on gamma ray log and density logs. To determined ash content, total moisture and calorific value, the writer used poximate data. The target of this reserach areto know the correlation between well log data and proximate data to identify coal quality. The characteristic of coal in Warukin Formation based on well log data are the gamma ray has ranged from 2.24-18.87 cps , density at high resolution density ranging from 1.44-1.86 gr/cc. Besides it the characteristics of the data by proximates are Ash Content of coal has values between 2-15.6 % , 37-47.8 % for Total Moisture, and Calory Value has range 3148-4441 cal/gr. The qualitative analysis was also performed based on the data well log and proximate, be approached with a linear equation between volume Shale and Ash Content and Calory Value. The correlation between Volume shale - Ash Content show good correlation. It can showed by the coefficient of determination that representated until 80.2 %. Volume Shale - Calory Value shows good correlation too, it can representated by coefficient of detemination that show value until 60% and density – Total Moisture show reversible correlation with 81.7% to coefficient determination.
